A 1918 Tavern Made New Again
Twisted Gingers Brewing Company started out as a neighborhood taproom, powered by passion for doing great things in life and taking a moment to celebrate them! Nestled in the hills of Manayunk halfway between Ridge Pike and Main Street, our building is more than 100 years old. From day one, our purpose was simple: Offer a fun craft beverage experience with the freshest beer. Rotating 8 beers brewed weekly plus hard seltzers & ciders, craft cocktails, wine, and sparkling spring waters, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Lockdown!
With doors first opened right before a pandemic, we quickly brainstormed “What goes best with fresh beer?” More importantly, what equipment will fit in the smallest commercial kitchen in Philadelphia? The inspiration came from Mark’s father who quit trade school to start making pizzas at the family taproom known in Middlesex and surrounding counties of northern NJ as the Sayreville Bar. It was an iconic moment delivering a used pizza oven in the trunk of a ‘59 Chevy to its new home. Following in his footsteps, Mark reconfigured the taproom kitchen and introduced beer into the recipes to create a unique fresh ‘Twist’ on an American classic – Brewhouse Pizza! The landmark mural on the outside of the building pays homage to Mark’s Dad and his entrepreneurial inspiration to do Great Things and Love Life!

Ambler & Ridge Hall
Our next chapter began in 2025 when we opened our second location. The Ambler Industrial Lounge offers barstools and relaxed seating right inside our much larger and more advanced brewhouse, giving sneak peeks into the brewing operations. At the same time, numerous food options are available from Ridge Hall, right under the same roof. Whether you’re watching the game, lounging under the chandelier, or enjoying delicious food with a view when the glass garage door is open, our Ambler spot offers a truly unique experience.
Gingers DO Have Souls
Our philosophy is to “Celebrate Life with a Twist”. The ‘twist’ is all about finding the positives in your day to continue moving forward in life! No matter how simple or sarcastic, it’s what makes your glass always full here! And for those of us who are South Park fans, we also live by #WhereGingersHaveSouls. Even our headliner IPA “Daywalker” is named after the series. Both owner/operator Mark Mayer and his daughter are true gingers (her likeness was used as inspiration for the mural in Ambler), and we’re pretty sure neither of them even remotely resembles a vampire.
